Privacy Policy

Welcome to Glance: SAT® Vocab Prep("Glance," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our iOS mobile application (the "App").

Summary: Glance is designed to store your core learning data on your device. We do not require a Glance account, and we do not operate Glance-owned servers that store or sync your full vocabulary database, complete quiz history, or onboarding questionnaire answers.

To improve the App, we use limited third-party product analytics (PostHog) and crash/performance monitoring (Sentry), as described below. Those services may receive usage events, device/session metadata, and crash reports. They do not receive your full on-device learning database.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

By downloading or using Glance, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Glance is an educational vocabulary practice app for SAT® preparation, published by the developer of Glance (contact: support@glanceprep.com).

SAT® is a trademark registered by the College Board, which is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, Glance.

1. Information you provide in the App (stored locally)

During onboarding, in Settings, and through normal use, the App may store the following on your iPhone or iPad:

• Onboarding & goals: Whether you have taken the SAT before; prior Reading/Writing score range (if provided); target Reading/Writing score goal; quick baseline quiz answers; widget-install-related preferences — used to personalize your experience and plan recap
• Learning preferences: Daily quiz reminder time; optional SAT test date you choose in Settings — used to schedule reminders and show your goal date
• Widget preferences: Home/Lock Screen widget style, color theme, and typography choices from Widget Studio — used to display widgets the way you configure them
• Quiz & vocabulary progress: Words encountered, mastery/familiarity levels, quiz sessions, correct/incorrect answers, spaced-repetition scheduling, category performance, streak-related state — used to power daily quizzes, Insights, and adaptive review
• Optional preview access: Whether you started a 3-day full access pass (onboarding only, no payment method required) or similar limited preview; expiration timestamp stored locally — used to provide temporary premium access before a paid subscription

This information is saved using on-device storage (including Apple's SwiftData and UserDefaults) and, where needed for widgets, in an App Group container shared only between the Glance app and Glance's iOS widgets on the same device.

We do not upload your full learning database (complete word lists, full quiz answer logs, or entire onboarding responses) to Glance-operated servers for sync or backup.

Limited analytics signals: Separately from local storage, the App may send selected usage events to our analytics provider (PostHog), such as onboarding step completion, paywall interactions, aggregate quiz metrics (for example, number of words reviewed and score), notification permission results, tab navigation, widget tap destinations, and—in some cases—the name of a vocabulary word when the App records a "word mastered" event. PostHog does not receive your complete quiz history or full onboarding answer sheet. See Product analytics (PostHog) below.

2. Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets

If you add a Glance widget, vocabulary content you configure may appear on your Lock Screen or Home Screen. Anyone who can see your device may see that content. Widget interactions (such as revealing a memory hook or answering a widget quiz) update your on-device learning data after you open the App or when the App refreshes in the background.

The App may also detect whether Glance widgets are installed on your device (via Apple's WidgetKit APIs) for product analytics. A widget-install signal may be sent to PostHog; it does not upload your widget content.

3. Notifications (optional)

If you allow notifications in iOS Settings, the App can schedule local reminders (for example, a daily evening check-in). We store your chosen reminder time on your device. We do not need your email or phone number to send these reminders. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings → Notifications → Glance.

If you grant or deny notification permission during onboarding, the App may record that result as an analytics event (PostHog).

4. Purchases and subscriptions (Apple and RevenueCat)

All purchases, free trials, renewals, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple through your Apple ID and the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card or bank details.

To unlock premium features, we use RevenueCat, a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives limited information from Apple about your subscription and purchase status (not your payment card details) and an anonymous app customer identifier so the App can tell whether premium access is active. RevenueCat does not receive your vocabulary progress, quiz answers, or onboarding answers. RevenueCat's processing is subject to RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Apple may also provide us with limited subscription-related information (such as whether a subscription is active). That processing is subject to Apple's privacy policy.

4.1 Three-day full access pass (no payment method)

During onboarding, Glance may offer a 3-day full access pass that does not require a payment method and does not create an App Store subscription. If you accept this offer, the App stores an expiration timestamp on your device only (typically 72 hours from when you start the pass). We do not transmit this timestamp to Glance-operated servers. When the pass expires, premium features end unless you have an active Apple subscription. Starting this pass may be recorded as a product analytics event (PostHog).

5. Product analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog (PostHog, Inc.; US-hosted ingestion at https://us.i.posthog.com) to understand how the App is used and to improve onboarding, subscriptions, and core features.

Depending on your use of the App, PostHog may receive event data such as:

• Onboarding funnel steps and selected SAT timeline
• Diagnostic baseline tier (not your full raw calibration responses); calibration may include question identifiers and selected option indices
• Paywall views, plan selections, checkout starts, restore attempts, and subscription-completed signals
• Daily quiz started/completed (aggregate counts and scores, not per-question answer text)
• Word mastered events (which may include the vocabulary word and an internal word identifier)
• Widget taps, widget install detection, library/tab navigation, and freemium limit interactions
• Notification permission prompted/granted results
• Device and session metadata typically collected by analytics SDKs (for example, app version, OS version, device type, session identifier, and IP address processed by PostHog)

PostHog is not used for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal information to PostHog.

PostHog's processing is subject to PostHog's privacy policy.

6. Crash and performance monitoring (Sentry)

We use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) to collect crash reports, error diagnostics, and performance traces so we can fix bugs and improve stability.

Depending on your use of the App and whether an error occurs, Sentry may receive:

• Crash stack traces and error messages
• Device and app metadata (for example, device model, OS version, app version)
• Performance/trace data related to App operations

Sentry does not receive your full vocabulary database or complete quiz history.

Sentry's processing is subject to Sentry's privacy policy.

7. When you contact us

If you email support@glanceprep.com, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message content) so we can respond.

8. Links to other services

The App may open:

• Our website (glanceprep.com) for Help, this Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use (in-app browser)
• Instagram or TikTok if you tap those links in Settings
• Apple subscription management pages if you manage a subscription

Those services have their own privacy policies. We do not control them.

Unless described above (such as a support email you send us, or the limited analytics/crash data sent to PostHog and Sentry), Glance does not:

• Require you to create a Glance account
• Sell your personal information
• Use third-party advertising networks in the App
• Upload your full vocabulary lists, complete quiz history, or full onboarding answer sheets to Glance-operated servers for sync or backup
• Use your data for cross-context behavioral advertising

We use information to:

• Provide vocabulary exposure (including widgets) and daily quizzes
• Apply spaced repetition and adaptive review
• Show progress and Insights inside the App
• Honor your reminder and widget preferences
• Validate subscription status through Apple and RevenueCat (when premium features are offered)
• Understand product usage and improve features (via PostHog analytics)
• Diagnose crashes, errors, and performance issues (via Sentry)
• Improve stability and fix bugs (including via Apple-provided diagnostics, if available)
• Respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share limited information only in these situations:

• Apple: Subscription status, App Store rules — for billing, refunds, subscription management
• RevenueCat: Anonymous app customer identifier; subscription and purchase status from Apple (not payment card details) — to validate premium access, restore purchases
• PostHog: Product analytics events and related device/session metadata (see above) — to understand usage and improve the App
• Sentry: Crash reports, error diagnostics, performance traces, device/app metadata — for stability, debugging, performance
• Service providers: Support or hosting vendors if we use them (e.g. email support tools, website hosting) — to operate support or publish legal pages
• Legal requirements: As required by law or valid legal process — to comply with law, protect rights and safety

Your full on-device learning database is not shared with PostHog, Sentry, RevenueCat, or Apple as part of normal App operation. Limited derived usage signals (described above) may be shared with PostHog and Sentry.

• On-device learning data is kept while you use the App so your progress continues across sessions.
• If you delete the App, on-device data stored in the App's container is removed as part of iOS app deletion. Data in the App Group used by widgets on the same device is also removed when the App and its associated data are deleted, subject to iOS behavior.
• Support emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable business records.
• PostHog and Sentry retain data according to their respective policies and our configuration. We configure these services for reasonable retention periods appropriate to analytics and crash debugging.

We do not retain copies of your full learning history on Glance-operated servers because we do not collect it there.

You can:

• Turn off notifications in iOS Settings at any time
• Remove widgets from your Lock Screen or Home Screen at any time
• Change or clear preferences inside the App (reminder time, widget style, SAT date, etc.)
• Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID → Subscriptions
• Delete the App to remove locally stored learning data from your device
• Contact us at support@glanceprep.com with privacy questions or requests

Because we do not operate accounts or a central database of your learning progress, we generally cannot restore your progress if you delete the App or replace your device unless you use an Apple device backup that includes app data.

The App does not currently offer an in-app toggle to disable PostHog or Sentry. If you do not want analytics or crash reporting as described in this policy, please do not use the App or contact us with questions.

Additional rights (where applicable)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing of personal information. Contact support@glanceprep.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, see International users below.

Glance is intended for students preparing for the SAT®, who are often teenagers. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent as required by law.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information (for example, via a support email), contact support@glanceprep.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.

Users ages 13–17 should use the App with permission from a parent or guardian where required by local law.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing is typically performance of a contract (providing the App you requested) and legitimate interests (improving the App, analytics, security, support), and consent where required (for example, optional notifications).

Analytics and crash data may be processed in the United States by PostHog and Sentry. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

You may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us first at support@glanceprep.com so we can try to resolve your concern.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may contact support@glanceprep.com to request information about categories of data we collect (as described in this policy) and to exercise applicable rights, subject to legal limits.

We rely on Apple's iOS platform security for data stored on your device. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Because learning data is stored locally, you are responsible for securing your device (passcode, Face ID, etc.).

Data sent to PostHog and Sentry is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

Widget content may be visible on your Lock Screen without unlocking your phone. Do not use Lock Screen widgets if you do not want others to see vocabulary words on your device.

Glance is a vocabulary practice tool. It does not guarantee any specific SAT® score or test outcome.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://www.glanceprep.com/privacywith a new "Last updated" date. For material changes, we may also notify you in the App or by other reasonable means.

Continued use of Glance after the effective date of an update means you accept the revised policy.
